Responsibilities:
About the Team
The Media Engineering group is responsible for all the software used to deliver, store, and manage digital media content via our network. This includes developing and maintaining our Live and On-Demand Streaming products that are an integral part of Akamai's globally distributed network of EdgeServers that deliver media content for major events. On the back end, developers work on Akamai's NetStorage system that stores massive amounts of customer content. This group also builds and maintains the StreamOS Portal, which enables customers to efficiently manage and monetize their digital media content.

About the Job
Akamai is looking for a Senior Flex/Flash Software Engineer to architect and build the next generation of players and media frameworks for delivering media experiences through Adobe Flash. Change how you see television and how you consume video on the web and on mobile devices. In this role the candidate would have the opportunity to work on products that will see deployment on Akamai's Global Network and on the sites of the top media and entertainment companies in the world. The Akamai Global network spans 1100+ networks in 65+ countries and is one of the largest distributed systems in the world.

Responsibilities
* Design, develop and maintain software.
* Bug Fixing & customer support.
* Feature Identification.
* Interact with product management.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
* Overall Experience: 5-7 years or equivalent experience.
* Strong familiarity with Action Script 3 programming - including object oriented coding, events, class/package structures.
* Experience with streaming media and flash.
* Knowledge of HTTP, RTMP protocols, NetConnection and NetStream, displaying and controlling video and audio in flash applications.
* Adobe FLEX and Flex Builder / Flash Builder experience.
* Adobe Flash CS4 IDE experience.

Desired Qualifications
* Good at writing HTML.
* Familiarity with Java Script and AJAX.
* Knowledge of UI design principles & expertise in developing interactive websites.
* Ability to maintain high Quality standards, be a self learner and have the drive to Innovate.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
